Wicked Hunt: a moment to reminisce
Three months ago, I published my inaugural novel, the paranormal suspense thriller, Wicked Hunt. Join me as I reflect on the experiences that shaped this literary venture.
I always dreamed of publishing a book, but life turned out differently. I went to university and got a diploma I don’t use. But soon after graduating, the thought of giving writing another chance beckoned. I knew I wouldn’t go the traditional route. My brother suggested self-publishing, but I was hesitant due to its negative reputation. My research disappointed me, so I decided it wasn't the right path. I decided to live my dream by writing fanfiction and web fiction.
Grammarly and ProWritingAid changed everything. The latter, especially, spurred change after I attended their “Crime Writers’ Week” 2021. I learned a lot at that event; it showed me how professional modern self-publishing had become.
Author journey
I was inspired, so I learned as much about publishing as I could while writing my novels. Being a writer and PR person helped me get those words down. It was a struggle to make a plot and flesh out the characters. It’s a lot different from writing reports and interviewing people.
Seeing Wicked Hunt go from a messy first draft to a finished book was amazing. I extensively revised my manuscript before sending it to a professional editor I found on Reedsy, a platform connecting self-publishing authors with various services. Many edits later, I finished the manuscript.
Amidst all the creative chaos, I dove into book marketing and soon discovered this was no less challenging. Fortunately, my experience with web and graphic designers, email marketing, and social media turned out to be valuable assets.

The result
Wicked Hunt's launch has been even more successful than I expected, with almost 200 readers already. This might not sound like much, but it’s truly remarkable because many authors don’t even sell 100 books in their entire career.
Storytelling is my passion. With each word I write, I grow and improve. I look forward to spending the rest of my life sharing stories and bringing you joy.
